Hello there!

Today we had a lesson on specific sketching techniques that we will be asked to implement when sketching artifacts in class, and during our field work at the Glenbow Museum and other upcoming locations. We ended our day applying these techniques while exploring various artifacts from Grassland animals.

Afterwards we co created (teacher & students) a sketching rubric to help us better understand what is expected when we are sketching objects with realism, details and effective techniques. We will be using this rubric throughout the school year in order to self-assess our work as well as provide feedback to one another.

Sketching Rubric
Outcome: Images can be portrayed in varying degrees of realism.

This afternoon we were pleased to have author Jace Jax and artist Henry Hama visit to read and tell us about their new book Kidsburgh Chronicles Little Jack Jarmagan: A Halloween Tale! We learned about all the details that go into the process of creating a book through the lens of an illustrator & author. How inspiring!

Students have come home with field trip forms for Chevron Open Minds Glenbow Museum School. We are excited for the opportunity to move our classroom learning to the Glenbow Museum for the entire week of November 4th. Thank you to all parents who have already provided dates that they are able to volunteer, please record all dates available on the field trip form whether you have spoken with me or not. We will require 5 volunteers per day- I will send home volunteer confirmation dates & forms once I have received all field trip forms. Please note that due to online payment process changes, you will have to wait approximately 5 days to see the fee owing & pay online. Please return field trip forms promptly.

Enjoy your evening,

Mrs. Morden
