Hello!

Students have been working diligently on their stories inspired by the book "The Night I followed the Dog." In this writing process we have learned about the elements of a story, looking at the exposition/introduction, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. We have also had lessons on story beginnings and transitioning sentence starters. We co-created a rubric based on the elements of this story as well as the lessons that we have received. Students are beginning the stage of Peer Feedback, while some have already made revisions and are publishing their story by typing it on Microsoft Word.

In our exploration of bridges (grade 3) and simple machines (grade 4), students have worked on creating concept maps to share information that they have learned. We have been collaborating with the students in Room 7, as the grade four students have been working closely with Ms Bouchard and the grade three students are working with Mrs Morden. This is a great way for students to learn from and make relationships with additional teachers in our school, other than their main teacher- Ms Bouchard and I see many benefits from this!

To help us in building a collaborative concept map in our classroom. Students are asked to collect photographs of bridges & simple machines in their world. They may email the photo to me, or bring a paper copy in!

Friday January 24 is TWIN DAY. Students can choose to coordinate with a friend to dress alike!

Please note that Scholastic Book Orders are due on January 30th. You may order online by searching up Lake Bonavista School- Mrs. Morden.

Have a great rest of your week!

Mrs. Morden
